Passports and such~

Well, nows thats it the new year and I'm no longer a student, Partly because I didn't pass the entrance exam. I've been faced with a rather large problem. I have to head back to Canada or some how magically get a Visa.
One of the reasons I haven't wrote on this topic before, basically comes down to that I really don' t know out it would turn out.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not quiting school. Even if I had headed back to Canada in January, this isn't really much I can study till September.... That is if I head back to Camosun, Uvic is a different story.. Anyways..

I've been working part-time at a language school downtown and they have been really great!!
They said they would try do their best, helping with the forums and sponsorship. Anyways, over a period of 3 weeks I had no idea if I was going to still be in the country the next week.
Making a longer story shorter, I was rejected once, called back, asked to get more papers, called back again, and received a post card in the mail that didn't state wither I had or hadn't be able to get my work visa. Just a post card asking for money for the change.
Rather confusing..

Anyways, overjoyed that I didn't have to worry about visa, I happily rode down to the visa office and got my stamps. Very happily giving them the ¥5,000 ($50Cdn).

Now I just have to worry about where I'm going live...

Taking it a step at a time,

-Tom

This is sounds like exactly what happened to me, almost down to the baito at the the language school.
You do not have a valid visa. There has been a mistake at immigration from when you called after the intial rejection. They have now processed your passport and visa but you are not in the computer system. You do not have a valid visa. Trust me, I know. The next time you leave Japan you will be held in detention for up to 2 weeks with the other foreigners who've overstayed their visa and you will be banned from the country for 10 years. This is what happened to me when I was in the exact same situation as you. My only fortune was that when I did this the ban was only for 5 years. Call immigration and get to the bottom of it. If you can prove that you are sorry enough (yeah, sorry for their mistake, it sucks) there is a very good chance you will not be punished (again, for their stupid mistake). As we are Canadians, we have a little more leeway when they feel like we've turned ourselves in. But not when we are caught. No matter how innocent you think you are, they will see you as being at fault. If you have no college degree, you cannot have a degree to work at a language school in any capacity other than a perhaps an IT systems administrator, provided you have at least ten years of prior experience. The longer you are there the harder it will be to convince them. Trust me, don't get banned from Japan for 10 years for this.
